Hi Stéphane

I've built many projects that integrated existing database content with eZ content objects. In most cases datatypes were the easiest way to do this and I noticed that they were all quite similar so built the extension as a generic solution.

On the Melink Melbourne (public transport for Victoria, Australia) site it is used to link service alterations with transport routes:

The Affected lines are a Multiple option that links a service alteration eZ content object to the Lines table in existing public transport database.

The service updates can then be linked to both eZ content as well as custom content like timetables:

The datatypes can also be used in place of the existing selection attributes. They are especially handy if you have a long list of items or the same list is used across multiple content classes.
I've used them for country lists prior to the recently included country dataype.

Cheers
Bruce
